Hebrews 12:1 - “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses…”
Since your experience as a Kaléo student, have you found yourself wondering about this year’s group of students, what they are up to and how it’s going? Have you wanted a way to get involved with them and give back some of what you received as a student?
The purpose of the ParaKaléo Program is to provide the opportunity for a previous Kaléo student to come alongside (parakletos) a current Kaléo student, to provide encouragement and support, and to coach them through their Kaléo experience as one who has already “played the game.”
It is an opportunity for you to:
-
✓Get involved in the current Kaléo community
-
✓Share your story and your life with a current Kaléo student
-
✓Support them as they journey through Kaléo
-
✓Provide insight and encouragement to help them benefit fully from their experience
-
✓Stay connected in the Kaléo family
You will be expected to:
-
✓Share your story with your K8 Student over the phone or an initial email of introduction. Give them the opportunity to get to know you.
-
✓Give your K8 Student the opportunity to share their story with you, as the Lord leads.
-
✓Regularly pray for your K8 Student.
-
✓Communicate with them at least once a month with the purpose to come alongside them with encouragement and support. You may choose to call them, email them, or send them snail mail – whatever works best for you.
-
✓Send a care package to your K8 Student once a semester. Think of all the things you hoped to receive in a care package when you did Kaléo – bandanna, phone card, FOOD, toothpaste, Starbucks card, a pirate hat, etc – and send it to them!
-
✓Be creative. It will be as awesome as you make it. So have fun with it!
What to Expect from your K8 Student
We will be communicating with the students who wish to be involved in this opportunity that you will be committing to come alongside them for the duration of their eight-month journey with Kaléo. Their role will be to eagerly engage in hearing your story, providing their friendship and feedback as you ask how you can pray for them and support them. They are simply to be receivers of the blessing of being supported by someone who has gone ahead of them. Our hope is that both of you will be mutually edified as a result!
What to Expect from Us, Your Kaléo Leaders
We will provide you with their contact information (email address, mailing address, room phone number, etc), profile picture, a personal write-up about themselves and their blog address. These are all opportunities for you to know how to pray for them, how to encourage them and even how you can challenge them. We also welcome you to come visit your Kaléo student during the year! We want to pair up each current student with two alumni. We will let you know via email who your K8 ParaKaléo student is within the first two weeks of October. But we invite you to start praying for them now!
Please confirm with Jim by email jimbadke@gmail.com if you would like to commit to loving on a Kaléo Eight student. Include in your email the following:

✓Your name:
